Wedding Gown Preservation

When your gown is dropped off we give it a thorough inspection and develop a specific cleaning plan based on your gowns composition and the types of soil on the gown. We’ll show you why an inspection with a spectra light is important before cleaning.
But, what really sets us apart from other wedding gown preservation services, besides our cleaning expertise, is the materials we use in packaging your gown. We have chosen museum quality products because they are the finest quality preservation materials available and with our reputation would not consider packaging you wedding gown in anything else.
We do not believe gowns should be stored in boxes that are wrapped in plastic, sealed with tape or any boxing method which inhibits breathability, sealing a box aids in the creation of a microclimate by trapping humidity and unwanted gases thus creating a condition for textile degradation to occur.
The storage technique still favored by most conservators is to protect the textile utilizing several layers of neutral, passive materials in a breathable media to protect against environmental contaminants. We accomplish this by first wrapping the outside of your box in a cotton layer, then a special double wall corrugated paperboard box, then another layer of cotton wrapped around your gown, lining the inside of the box.
Cotton due to its breathability and permanence may be the most valuable material utilized in the storage process. Cotton is the material conservators prefer to have next to their textiles and we wrap every gown around it. Our cotton is washed, de-sized, and pH tested.
Our box, tissue, and cotton product are lignin free, high cellulose content materials, meeting optimum museum archival standards.
